(Public) Air Flow Guidelines for BVC Outdoor Displays
Introduction
BVC Outdoor LCD Displays have built-in fans designed to bring in cool ambient air and exhaust hot air. Sometimes our outdoor LCD screens get too hot, even when it’s not very hot outside, especially when our displays are installed in a decorative enclosure or recess. This can cause dark spots or discoloration on the screen as seen in the pictures below. Please make sure to follow our Enclosure Air Flow Guidelines attached for best results.
**Displays installed in an enclosure, framing or recess that do not follow the BVC air flow guidelines may not be covered by warranty.**
SIGNS OF OVERHEATING
Canada Winter over heating in the single digits.
Keeping the airflow clear and the built-in fans working is key to preventing your LCD unit from overheating. By following these simple steps, you should be able to diagnose and fix the problem. If you need extra help, our support team is here for you.
How our Outdoor LCD Display's Built-in Cooling Is Meant to Work
Airflow In: Cool air comes in from vents (shown as blue arrows in the Air Exchange Illustration images).
Airflow Out: Hot air leaves the screen through other vents (red arrows).
Fans: Built-in fans help move the air to keep the screen cool.
If you see discoloration and the fans are ON and running:
- Re-start/power cycle the display. If problem persists:
- The screen may be getting too hot, which can leave dark spots on the display. This might be because the vents are blocked.
- If vents are blocked by dirt or debris, remove debris from vents
- If vents are blocked by the design of the enclosure, framing or recess, the display may need to be re-installed with a minimum 1.5" air gap around the display.
- Consider re-installing as a standalone unit. The outdoor display is IP rated for standalone installation in an outdoor environment and, therefore, does not require an enclosure or covering.
If you see discoloration and the fans are OFF:
- Could be a defective unit and need to be replaced. Or, the installation environment overworked the fans and caused a failure.
- Unplug the unit
- If the display is still under warranty, contact the BVC Customer Care Center to report the defect and request a replacement.
